Bear Awareness Day

Bear Aware and The District of Squamish invite the community to join them at the first Bear Awareness Community Event.
Event Highlights:
Kids – will enjoy making crafts, playing in the bouncy castle, listening to bear stories and having a chance to win great prizes.
The Passport to Learning – Receive a passport to learning when you arrive and as you visit each community booth get a stamp on your passport; once completed, enter to win some great prizes including a trip to the top of Grouse Mountain to visit the wildlife refuge or a guided tour with Michael Allen at Whistler Blackcomb.
Bears Helping Bears – Come and meet the different mascots including RCMP Safety Bear, A&W’s Great Root Bear and the Coast Guard’s Polar Bear, Putka. The mascots will be on hand all day in support of the Black Bears in our community.
Films – The Adventure Centre theatre is open and will be showing Staying Safe in Bear Country and at 12:00 p.m. will feature Charlie Russell’s Living with Grizzlies of Kamchatka a.k.a. The Edge of Eden: Living with the Grizzlies.
Bear-beque - The Squamish Emergency Program will be hosting the BBQ and offering tasty eats throughout the day.
This event is about having fun while learning about Black Bears, nature and the unique environment we live in. There is fun for the whole family, so come out and connect with nature.
